Riverside Stands Out Among Southern California's Apartment Hunting Destinations
In the ever-evolving world of real estate, staying on top of the latest trends and insights that shape the market is crucial. A recent study by RentCafe has shed light on the most sought-after apartment-hunting destinations across the United States, and the results for Southern California are quite intriguing.
Riverside, the vibrant city in the Inland Empire, has emerged as the top-ranked Southern California destination for apartment hunters. Ranking 38th out of 150 major apartment markets nationwide, Riverside stood out for its strong rental demand and online interest.
The study found that Riverside experienced a 26% drop in available rental units, the third-highest decline in the region. With its position as the number one city in Southern California for online searches, Riverside's appeal as a desirable rental market is undeniable.
While Riverside may have outshone its regional counterparts, it's important to note that 37 other cities across the country scored higher in the national rankings. California's Sacramento, San Jose, Elk Grove, and Fremont ranked above Riverside, highlighting the fierce competition in the apartment-hunting landscape.
On the other end of the spectrum, Oxnard was deemed the least desirable big Southern California city for renters, with a 14% drop in availability and the eighth-highest ranking for online searches. Nationally, Oxnard was the 11th worst-performing city.
As for the rest of the region, the study revealed a mixed performance bag. Los Angeles, Long Beach, Chula Vista, and Moreno Valley all landed in the top half of the national rankings, while cities like Glendale, Irvine, and Huntington Beach struggled to keep pace, ranking in the bottom 50.
